Privacy policy

Last updated May 2026. We collect only what we need to fulfil your order, never sell your data, and let you delete it any time.

This policy describes how SRI CAUVERY JEWELLERS ("we", "us", "Sri Cauvery Jewellers") collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal information when you visit cauveryjewellers.com or transact with us in any way. It applies in addition to your statutory rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

You give us directly

  • Mobile number — to verify identity, send order updates, and process payments.
  • Name, delivery address, alternate phone — to ship your order.
  • Email (optional) — to send invoices and order updates.
  • Payment details — handled directly by Razorpay; we do not store card numbers, CVVs, or UPI PINs.
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar / PAN, last four digits visible on card) — only when required for try-at-home and high-value orders.

Collected automatically

  • Device type, browser, IP address — for security, fraud prevention, and analytics.
  • Pages you view, products you browse, items in cart — to show you relevant pieces and improve the site.
  • Cookies — used for session management, cart persistence, and analytics. See cookie list below.

Why we collect it

  • To process and ship your orders.
  • To verify your identity and prevent fraud.
  • To send you transactional messages (order confirmations, shipping updates, invoices).
  • To improve our website, catalogue, and service.
  • To comply with our legal obligations (GST, AML, BIS regulations).
  • With your explicit opt-in, to send you marketing about new collections and offers — never without consent.

Who we share it with

We share your data only with:

  • Payment processors (Razorpay) — to charge cards and refund returns.
  • Logistics partners (Sequel, Bluedart) — to deliver your order to the address you provide.
  • Communication partners (MSG91 for SMS, Meta WhatsApp Cloud API, Resend for email) — to send order updates.
  • Tax authorities — when required by Indian law (e.g., GST returns).
  • Law enforcement — only on receipt of a valid warrant, summons, or court order.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing, advertising, or profiling.

WhatsApp Business Platform

We use the Meta WhatsApp Business Platform (operated by WhatsApp LLC, a Meta company) to communicate with you through WhatsApp. Meta processes the data needed to deliver these messages on our behalf as a data processor; their handling of that data is governed by Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy and the WhatsApp Privacy Policy.

What we send you on WhatsApp

  • Welcome / onboarding messages when you first register with us or place your first order.
  • Transactional updates — order confirmations, payment receipts, shipping notifications, delivery confirmations, bill / invoice copies, repair-ready notifications.
  • Account updates — verification confirmations, policy changes, scheme installment reminders.
  • Promotional / marketing messages — only when you have explicitly opted in. Promotional messages always include a way to opt out.

What we receive from you on WhatsApp

When you reply to our WhatsApp messages or message our business number directly, Meta forwards your message to us through a secure webhook. We store the message content and your phone number so our staff can respond and keep a conversation history for service quality. We do not use the content of your messages for advertising or profiling.

How to opt out

You can stop our WhatsApp messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any WhatsApp message we send you;
  • Calling +91 8804 888 883 and asking our staff to mark your account as do-not-message; or
  • Emailing support@cauveryjewellers.com with subject "WhatsApp opt-out".

Once opted out you will continue to receive only legally-required notices (e.g. mandatory regulatory disclosures); all promotional and operational notifications stop within 24 hours of your request.

Data shared with Meta

To deliver a WhatsApp message Meta needs your phone number and the message content. Meta acts as our data processor under their Business Terms and does not use that data for advertising targeting on the WhatsApp Business Platform. How long we keep it

  • Order details and invoices: 8 years (required for GST audit).
  • Account profile and addresses: until you ask us to delete.
  • Marketing consent records: until you opt out, plus 12 months.
  • Customer-service WhatsApp / email logs: 2 years from the last message in the conversation.
  • Browsing analytics (anonymised): 14 months.

Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023

  • Right to access — see what data we hold about you.
  • Right to correction — fix anything inaccurate.
  • Right to erasure — delete your account and associated data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Right to grievance redressal — escalate to our Grievance Officer (contact below).
  • Right to nominate — designate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of incapacity.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@cauveryjewellers.com with the subject "Privacy request". We respond within 30 days.

Cookies we use

  • cart_token — keeps your shopping bag persistent across sessions. Strictly necessary.
  • next-auth.session-token — keeps you signed in. Strictly necessary.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — anonymised page-view data. Optional; you can opt out via your browser settings.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures: TLS encryption on all data in transit, encrypted at-rest storage on Neon Postgres, hashed passwords / OTPs (we never see your code in plain text), and least-privilege access for our staff.

We do not store your card number, CVV, or UPI PIN — these go directly to Razorpay and are tokenised before reaching us.

Children

Our site and services are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we'll delete it immediately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices evolve or as Indian privacy law changes. Significant changes will be announced via email and on this page. Continued use of the site after the update constitutes acceptance.
