Custom design

Roughly a third of what we make is custom. Solitaire engagement rings designed around a specific stone. Bridal sets that match a family heirloom. Mangalsutras inspired by something a grandmother wore. Pendants made to match a Kanjivaram saree. We see all of it.

How a custom commission works

1. Brief. Send us photos, sketches, references — anything you have. Even a vague description works ("something between this and that, but lighter for daily wear"). We can sketch from a conversation alone.
2. Design draft. Within 3 – 5 days, we send 2 to 3 design directions in CAD render. You pick one or ask us to merge aspects of multiple — and we iterate until the design is right.
3. Quote. We finalise the metal, weight, stones, and making charge, and send a complete quote with no hidden lines. You approve in writing before any wax is poured.
4. Production. We make a wax model first, send you photos of it, and only proceed to gold once you confirm the wax looks right. Production takes 4 – 8 weeks depending on complexity.
5. Delivery. The finished piece is hallmarked, stones are certified (where applicable), and the piece is delivered to you in person at the showroom or, for outstation orders, via insured courier with the same try-at-home option as a regular order.

• Re-setting heirloom stones into contemporary pieces.

What we politely decline

• Pieces that copy a competitor's catalogue design exactly — we don't replicate other jewellers' protected designs.
• Designs that compromise structural integrity — e.g. stones set in metal too thin to hold safely. We'll suggest alternatives.
• Conflict-zone or untraceable stones. All diamonds and coloured stones we use are documented.

Pricing

Custom commissions cost the same as a comparable in-store piece — gold weight × today's rate + making + stone value + GST. The making charge is a touch higher (typically 2 – 4% above standard) to cover design and CAD work, and we apply this only after you've approved the design. The CAD rendering itself is free; you pay only when production begins.
